Life is hard
LIFE IS HARD.
I feel like there may be some people out there today that just need to hear these words and know they are not alone. Life is just hard sometimes. And during those times, a day can feel so long and you just simply have to live life one day at a time, and sometimes one hour at a time.
I’m sure we have all heard the encouraging phrases like – “praying for you”, “God’s got this”, and my favorite, “Five years from now you’ll look back and know why”. Now don’t get me wrong, I know all those things are true in my head, but really, five years from now feels impossible, when today feels so hard. And I know people mean well by what they say and it is nice to know that people are praying for you, but it really doesn’t help the everyday hard stuff.
Sometimes you just have to muddle through, making your way through the hard stuff, slowly but surely. And sometimes it is okay to take a break, a breather, and just sit in the hard. To just sit and cry or just sit and be. You don’t always need to have it all together and put a face on, acting like you are strong when really you aren’t. But sometimes that’s all you can do…
Act like everything is okay. Act like everything is ok, when on the inside, there is pain, worry, fear, or anxiety. And that’s okay too.
BUT please know that God knows your heart.
I am not here to offer you any more phrases that really aren’t helpful, but simply to say, God is with you, and you are not alone. He knows your heart, and even if you are acting with others, he knows how you are really feeling. And He cares - He cries with you and He sits with you and He muddles with you through the hard. God does not promise life will be easy, but he does promise to never leave us to figure it out on our own.
So cry out to him in the hard. He can take it – He can take your anger, your questioning, your yelling, your tears, your “really God” moments and He cares. He cares about your pain, your worries, your fear and your anxiety. Even when it feels like He doesn’t care and there are no answers or solutions on the horizon, know that He cares for you, His child. He loves you more than you can ever imagine and His heart hurts with yours. In these seasons of hurt and hard, it can feel like He is so far away but know that He is right there, we just need to cry out to him.
Life is hard.
You are not alone.
Cry out to Jesus.
